Trans woman is beaten in Vitória da Conquista
A trans woman who works as a sex worker was beaten by a man in the city of Vitória da Conquista, in southwestern Bahia. According to Christie Correia, head delegate of the city’s Women’s Police Station, the crime is treated as an attempted feminicide.
The case happened last weekend, however, according to the Civil Police (PC), the complaint was only registered on Tuesday (14). As of this Wednesday (15), no one has been arrested.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Tieta Rodrigues, was on Avenida Bartolomeu de Gusmão, when a man stopped the car and negotiated a program with her. The professional got into the vehicle and the driver went to a nearby location, which was not specified by the delegate.
The victim reported that before the program even started, the man started the attacks. Tieta was punched and her face and head were injured. She managed to call for help when another vehicle approached the car where she and the suspect were.
The man fled and Tieta was taken to an Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Vitória da Conquista. According to the delegate, images from security cameras in the region were requested so that the attacker could be identified and arrested.
