The Government of Pará is working to reinforce the sending of humanitarian aid to regions of the State impacted by river droughts. The emergency situation also includes the Marajó region and the Fire Department, through the State Civil Defense, is acting in response to the drought situation in the municipality of Chaves.
“A preliminary team of Civil Defense technicians has already been sent, who are in the municipality and will join the Municipality’s Department of Social Assistance and Civil Defense, in order to deliver the Government. After this, the municipal civil defense takes over the distribution to registered families, whether in the center of Chaves or in areas further away from the riverside of the rural area”, highlights the commander of the Fire Department and state coordinator of Protection and Civil Defense, Colonel Benjó .
The municipality will receive more than a thousand basic food baskets with the aim of mitigating the effects of the lack of food caused by the drought. Furthermore, the lack of drinking water also affects the region and, therefore, a thousand 5-liter bottles of water are being sent.
Last Tuesday (14) the basic food baskets and drinking water were sent to the municipality, with logistics implemented and aligned with the local city hall, and will arrive on the 17th in Chaves to be distributed.
