Man embezzles approximately half a million from supermarket chains in Tocantins

The Civil Police of the State of Tocantins (PC-TO), through the 12th Police Station of Augustinópolis, concluded this Tuesday, the 14th, the police investigation opened against a 54-year-old man who embezzled approximately half a million reais from a supermarket chain in the municipality, located in the Far North of the State.

As explained by the chief delegate of the 12th DP, Jacson Wutke, during the Civil Police investigations, after the hard work of the Police Intelligence Center, it was possible to effectively prove that the author, in the period from 2022 to 2023, using his managerial duties, as well as the special trust placed in him by his employers, through 192 (one hundred and ninety-two) acts, he subtracted the amount of R$ 468,370.65 from a supermarket chain in Augustinópolis.

Still according to the police authority. “It drew attention to the fact that this is not the first crime committed by the author. There is information about crimes with this same modus operandi in several states of the Federation, including in another supermarket right here in Augustinópolis, a fact that, however, would have occurred more than a decade ago. In other words, this is an individual who, with a personality clearly focused on committing crimes, acted believing in the impunity that accompanied him for so long”, he highlighted.

In this way, as soon as the deviations were suspected, the man would have immediately fled Augustinópolis, until then being in an unknown and unknown place. However, this Tuesday, the Tocantins Civil Police, with support from the Police Intelligence Directorate (Dinpol) of the State of Alagoas, commanded by delegate Thales Araújo, managed to arrest him in the municipality of Arapiraca (AL).

In addition to decreeing his preventive detention, the Judiciary, by decision signed by Judge Alan Ide Ribeiro da Silva, accepted the Civil Police’s request to also decree the seizure of the property of the investigated person, in particular an urban property located in Augustinópolis, since it would have been demonstrably acquired with the amounts embezzled from their employers.

The author was indicted by the Civil Police as having been charged with the crime of “theft qualified by breach of trust”, on 192 occasions, in continuous criminal activity, and, now being held in preventive custody in Arapiraca, he will remain at the disposal of the Justice Department.
