Public schools in the State of Paraíba will need to include the topic “prevention of violence against women” as a transversal content in their school curriculum. This is what Law no. 12,875 of November 14, 2023, which was published in the Official Gazette of the State of Paraíba (DOE-PB) this Wednesday (15). The law was authored by state deputy Danielle do Vale, was approved by the Legislative Assembly of Paraíba and then sanctioned by governor João Azevêdo.

According to the new law, teachers now need to be qualified so that, through continuing training procedures, they can promote this transversality.
The legislation also determines that the State Department of Education must comply with the provisions of the law and include the topic in the Pedagogical Political Plan of school units.
According to the text, the measure is in accordance with federal law 14,164 of June 10, 2021, which establishes the School Week to Combat Violence against Women in all public and private basic education institutions. .
