A new appointment of public servants was confirmed by the government of Santa Catarina this Tuesday (14). In an extraordinary publication in the Official State Gazette (DOE), 41 successful candidates were named in the 2019 competition of the Environmental Institute (IMA). A few months ago, approval for hiring employees for the body was already being considered. Governor Jorginho Mello himself, in the middle of the year, admitted that the IMA would have appointments.

With the “tap turned off” due to the Fiscal Adjustment Plan (Pafisc), the State government has only made specific appointments and in the face of high needs. Until May 1, 2024, as provided for in the Pafisc decree, only employees will be hired in areas where there have been retirements or other cases of departure that require replacement.
Behind the scenes, the pressure is great on some bodies, such as the Scientific Police. The tendency, however, is that in 2023 no more appointments of public servants will be made to contain payroll expenses.
