Taxi drivers and People with Disabilities (PwD) can now request exemption from ICMS and IPVA for vehicles using the BA.GOV.BR portal. The State Government’s service platform allows tax exemptions to be requested using a cell phone, computer or tablet, without having to leave home.

ICMS

The ICMS exemption, in both cases, is only granted when purchasing a new vehicle. The initiative was developed in partnership with the State Finance Department (Sefaz-BA). Previously, taxi drivers’ only option was to request tax exemption by opening a process via the petition module in the Electronic Information System (SEI Bahia), with Sefaz. Now, they can choose to use the platform or carry out the procedure in the previous way, using SEI Bahia.

To request ICMS exemption through BA.GOV.BR, those who already have a registration must access the platform using their login and password. If you have not registered on the services portal, you will need to register first.

After joining the platform, they must search for the service in the search bar, searching for the names of the desired request. They must then fill out the application and attach documentation required by law. The documents necessary to request the exemption are also available on the platform. After making the request, just follow the progress of the process through BA.GOV.BR until you receive the response (approval or rejection).

IPVA

The procedure for requesting IPVA exemption is similar. Individuals and taxi drivers need to access the platform, fill out the application and attach documentation required by law. They can then follow the progress of the process via smartphone or through the BA.GOV.BR portal. In the case of People with Disabilities, the exemption can also be requested by owners of used vehicles.

BA.GOV.BR

The new platform was launched on November 1st, with a total of 519 public services available to citizens. The portal houses all the services that were offered by SAC Digital, within the standards of maximum security and reliability. Users can access services via the web, mobile (iOS and Android), via WhatsApp, in addition to their own application (the SAC Digital application has already been updated to BA.GOV.BR).

The platform is a pioneering experience in the state, which offers ease and convenience to citizens. The objective is to guarantee an intuitive and resolute experience, with varied access options, thus serving all audiences.
