Rio – Around four tons of products unfit for consumption in a company that supplies hospital and pharmaceutical supplies, in Santo Cristo, in the Port Zone of Rio, were seized, this Tuesday (14), during an inspection action by the Consumer Police (Decon) and the Municipal Institute of Health Surveillance, Zoonosis Surveillance and Agricultural Inspection (Ivisa-Rio). Two company administrators were arrested red-handed.

The action was carried out after complaints that the company, even after being fined by the Health Surveillance, in September this year, continued to stock products without hygiene and cleaning conditions. During the inspection, the agents found several irregularities in the material that would mostly be destined for hospitals and pharmacies. Products aimed at newborn children and cancer patients were also past their expiration date. In addition, the teams found a large infestation of pigeons, rats and cockroaches.
Civil Police experts were at the scene and noted the irregularities. The administrators were taken to Decon and charged with committing a crime against consumer relations.
