Due to the high temperatures, 15 Brazilian states and the Federal District are under a “great danger” alert, according to different meteorological agencies.
The heat wave, which may persist in some locations throughout the week, is expected to lead to historic temperature records in several cities — there are places where thermometers may register up to 13 ºC higher than expected for this time of year.
