Worker is injured after falling from a barrier during hill containment work in Recife

The employee working on a slope containment project was injured after falling from a barrier in the Linha do Tiro neighborhood, in the North Zone of Recife (see video above). According to the city hall, the victim, whose name was not released, was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to Hospital da Restauração, in the central area of ​​the city.

The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon (9), on Rua Córrego do Sargento. Images circulating on social media show residents and other employees helping to rescue the victim, who was driving an excavator when he fell from a barrier. In the video, it is also possible to see the equipment lying next to a house.

According to the Recife Urbanization Authority (URB), the body responsible for the work, the worker is an employee of an outsourced company. URB informed, in a note, that it had adopted “all necessary measures” to care for the victim.

According to the municipality, Samu was called at 2:48 pm for the incident, taking the employee to Hospital da Restauração (HR).
