The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) reported this Thursday (9) that it seized a record 112 thousand irregular products at the Multilaser distribution center in the municipality of Extrema (MG).
According to councilor Artur Coimbra, items such as drones, cell phone chargers, headphones and keyboards were seized, with a total estimated value of R$2.3 million. The operation was carried out between October 30th and November 8th.
“It was the largest quantity of products retained so far in operations of this type,” said Coimbra. O g1 contacted Multilaser and is awaiting a response.
Anatel approves new rules for telephone and internet services
According to Coimbra, the action is part of Anatel’s action plan against piracy, which removed 7.5 million products from the market, with an estimated value of R$630 million. Inspections have been carried out since 2018.
Every telecommunications product sold in Brazil must be approved by Anatel. The procedure is important to ensure that the product follows quality and safety standards, which are mandatory for devices that emit radio frequency.
To find out if the equipment is regularized with Anatel, it is necessary to check the presence of the approval seal on the product, in the manual or on the box. The seal guarantees technical assistance in the event of a defect.
