The great end-of-year spectacle in Copacabana will feature two stages full of musical attractions. Rio City Hall, through Riotur, confirmed that New Year’s Eve on the beach will have shows by names from the pop scene such as Ludmilla, Glória Groove It is Luisa Sonza, in addition to Teresa Cristina, Jorge Aragão, Diogo Nogueira, Belo, Nattan, and samba schools Empress Leopoldinense It is Viradouro.

In addition to the line-up that ranges from funk to samba, including pagode and forró, the fireworks show will be led, for the first time, by a live symphony orchestra. The musicians will perform at Copacabana Stage, in front of the Copacabana Palace Hotel, while ten ferries spread along the waterfront will be responsible for the pyrotechnics. The event will be broadcast on TV Globo and also on Globoplay.
The diversity of musical genres should also set the tone for the festivities in nine other neighborhoods. In addition to Copacabana, the city will feature shows in the following locations: Praia de Ramos, Praia do Flamengo, Penha, Parque Madureira, Praia de Sepetiba, Ilha do Governador, Ilha de Paquetá, and two new stages in Praça Mauá and Bangu. Artists from Rio and from outside Rio should perform at Praça Mauá, in the Port Zone. At Praça das Juras, in Bangu, attractions with different musical rhythms that will reflect Brazilianness will take center stage. The names should be revealed soon.

Rock in Rio
Close to completing 40 years of history, the renowned music festival will also be honored on New Year’s Eve at Copacabana Beach. Minutes before the countdown and fireworks, an unprecedented visual spectacle with 500 drones will transmit different images, such as the guitar symbol of the festival and messages of peace and hope written in the sky.

The light show will be accompanied by a soundtrack with iconic hits from Rock in Rio, played live by an orchestra. “Seeing the festival that I designed 40 years ago be the highlight of the biggest New Year’s Eve in the world, in my favorite city on the entire planet, is the most emblematic way to start a very special year for us.
