Known for being the first Centro de Tradições Gaúcha (CTG) founded in Rio Grande do Sul – and in the world, obviously – the 35 CTG returns, for the second consecutive year, to the final of the Encontro de Artes e Tradição Gaúcha (Enart). The event will take place between the 24th and 26th of November, at Parque da Oktoberfest, in Santa Cruz do Sul. And 35 CTG will be the group responsible for closing the presentations on Friday night.

With this presentation time, the group will come to Santa Cruz on Thursday night, the 23rd. “We like the time, because we want to participate in the event, watch it. Let’s dance at the beginning and celebrate later,” he said. The 16 couples that make up the group from Porto Alegre, 1st Traditionalist Region (RT), will be accommodated in Vera Cruz, in a reserved space, which will allow for more comfort and rest.

Last year, 35 adult wintering also reached the final stage of the Enart. But, before that, the last time was in 1998. According to the entity’s artistic foreman, Henrique Arruda Rodrigues, the group even participated in the regional and inter-regional stages throughout that period, but was unable to qualify for Santa Cruz . “Now we have been doing the same work since 2019 and we are very proud to be back. It’s an immense happiness,” he said. The instructor is Emerson Ribeiro.

The expectation is to make a good presentation, without pressure to qualify. “We are at the beginning and we know that each step is important. Of course we want to dance on Sunday and we will fight for a place, but with the certainty that we have already come far”, he pondered. Rehearsals take place practically every day, with only Wednesdays and Thursdays off. “We hope to draw the best dances, but we are well prepared for all of them”, he pointed out.

The first gaucho dance

The promise of 35 CTG’s artistic foreman, Henrique Arruda Rodrigues, is that the group will present a different costume proposal than what is usually seen on the Enart stage. The theme is also new. “We are going to tell the story of the first gaucho dance, which took place even before the founding of 35 and the creation of the Gaúcho Traditionalist Movement itself”, reported Arruda.

According to research carried out by Invernada, the ball took place in 1947, at the Teresópolis Tênis Clube, in Porto Alegre, organized by Paixão Cortes. “We are going to reproduce the outfit that he and his sister wore”, he said. Family and friends of the 35 members will be able to see the choreography first hand, at the group’s preview, scheduled for this Sunday, the 12th.

This is one of the promotions carried out by the winter to raise the necessary resources to pay for participation in Enart. In addition, it also rents the CTG for events and raffles.
