It is inconceivable that Espírito Santo, so strategically positioned on the Brazilian coast, has remained for so long with its back to sea cruise routes, a tourist market that has recently been increased by themed trips. Roberto Carlos and Xuxa have already embarked on the trend. Even Neymar will take to the high seas at the end of the year.
The Port of Vitória already had more than 31 stops in a single cruise season in 2011, but the issue is that the ships are larger, which in many cases makes entry into Vitória Bay unfeasible. In December last year, after three years without tourist vessels docked, the Capital received the Ocean Explorer, with 98 passengers from 15 countries and 82 crew. The large vessels that travel along the Brazilian coast carry up to 4,500 passengers.
The idea of operating as in Búzios and Fernando de Noronha, where tourists are taken to dry land in smaller boats, seems to be a good option, with no difficulties in implementing it. Disembarking at Hotel Senac, on Ilha do Boi, if there are no environmental or urban impacts, can also be a way of bringing visitors to Greater Vitória.
The important thing is to discuss all the possibilities, it is not possible to postpone the existence of a systematized operation, with an organized agenda, any longer. There is a tourism ecosystem, from specialized personnel to welcome tourists in the city to the attractions themselves, which can develop with the continuous flow of transatlantic ships in the State.
Espírito Santo has attractions that need to be recognized, with more visitors. Entering the cruise route in an effective and professional way is fulfilling the destiny of a state located on the coast. This is how the expression “watching ships” gains a new meaning for Espírito Santo, much more positive than the original.
