Just like in the capital, the military found the man lying on the ground and took him to a hospital – in this case, the Hospital Municipal de Queimadas. There, a doctor certified his death. The case was registered at the Senhor do Bonfim Police Station, which is approximately 85 km from the first municipality.

Teenager killed by police
The versions of the family and the Military Police are quite divergent. Family members of José Adriano Ferreira say he was returning to a birthday party, after going out to buy beer, at the time the police shot.
The teenager was killed in front of a Candomblé temple, and a dog that was close to him also died. The family maintains that, in addition to working in a pizzeria, the teenager studied and was not involved in crimes.
The PM, however, says that José Adriano was with another man, both armed on the motorcycle. According to the police, they allegedly shot when they saw the police. The teenager was taken to Subúrbio Hospital and died. The other suspect reportedly fled, and he was never found.
Outraged by the PM’s version, family and friends of José Adriano held a protest on October 30, on Estrada Velha de Periperi, in a section close to the New Constituent Assembly, to demand justice and explanations.
Weliton’s family, however, maintains that the police arrived in the neighborhood shooting, and that there were no clashes at the scene. The police said they seized a pistol from the security guard – information that was also disputed.
According to family members, Weliton was talking to a friend at the door of the house where he lived. The guard left three children, one of them a newborn. When he was taken to the State General Hospital (HGE) by police officers, Weliton had a wound on his leg.
When family members arrived at the health unit, they discovered that the guard also had a wound on his head and was dead. The case is investigated by the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP), where the incident was registered.
