Online retail in Rio earns R$23 million in October (Reproduction)
On the eve of Black Friday, small and medium-sized online retail entrepreneurs in Rio de Janeiro are already seeing an increase in sales.
According to data from the platform for creating virtual stores, Nuvemshop, revenue in October reached R$23 million, representing growth of approximately 34% compared to the same period last year.
According to Luiz Figueira, General Director of Platform at Nuvemshop, e-commerce SMEs have created a good strategy to stand out compared to large retailers: anticipation.
“October’s sales results show the importance of greater preparation for promotional campaigns in order to guarantee good sales on that date. Many retailers have advanced their promotions and, in fact, 22% highlight that they have scheduled promotions for the entire month of November, not just the week or day, according to the ‘Black Friday 2023 Heating’ survey, carried out by Nuvemshop”.
The state ranked third in Brazil and stood out for its growth above the national average, which was 26%. Across the country, small and medium-sized online retailers turned over around R$301 million, selling 5 million products in the period.
Even with the increase in online sales, many people still look for physical stores.
