The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) must judge, this Thursday, 9th, the process of merger of PTB and Patriota. The new acronym should be called More Brazil.
The two parties failed to reach, in 2022, the electoral quotient to gain access to party fund resources. With the merger, Mais Brasil would be entitled to at least R$22 million from the party fund in 2023.
The union of acronyms is seen by people linked to the former federal deputy Robert Jefferson as a kind of political resurrection, after he was banished from the PTB. There is an expectation that he will be one of the main directors of Mais Brasil, if the merger is confirmed today by the TSE.
Jefferson is currently serving his sentence in a hospital. He was preventively arrested in the investigation that investigates offenses against authorities and attacks on Brazilian democratic institutions. Last Monday, the 6th, the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes authorized the former deputy to receive visits from family members. His children, Cristiane Brasil Francisco and Roberto Jefferson Monteiro Francisco Filho, as well as the former deputy’s mother, Neusa Dalva Monteiro Francisco, were allowed to meet him.
