Credit cards continue to lead the ranking of the main sources of debt
Around 10,680 families say they were in debt in the month of October, an increase of 2.3 percentage points compared to September. Debts refer to the monthly commitment to debts, including post-dated checks, credit cards, store vouchers, personal loans, car payments and insurance.
For the Peic (Consumer Debt and Default Survey), which was carried out by the CNC (National Confederation of Commerce in Goods, Services and Tourism), 17.8 thousand people were interviewed and 60.3% said they were in families that entered the red.
As disclosed, credit cards continue to lead the ranking of the main sources of debt. The payment method is followed by home financing, personal credit and car financing.
Default indicators indicate that 26.9% of families have outstanding debts, with greater prevalence among the population who have purchasing power of up to 10 minimum wages. Among those who have a higher income, only 9.3% say they fit into this situation.
