A 23-year-old young man was sentenced to more than 60 years in prison for abusing and raping his underage sisters in Araranguá, in the south of the state. The crimes were committed between December 2020 and June 2021.

According to the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina, the sentence of 61 years, eight months and 13 days refers to the practice of rape of a vulnerable person carried out in the context of domestic violence, attempted rape of a vulnerable person also in a context of domestic violence and facilitating access to minors to pornographic content.
For two years, the defendant remained at large and was only found in Rio de Janeiro. The preventive arrest warrant was issued in May 2021 and was only served in May 2023.
“To commit the crimes, the defendant took advantage of his status as the victims’ brother, taking advantage of the authority he exercised over them to commit sexual abuse,” the complaint pointed out. At the time of the events, the victims were 9 and 15 years old.
The complaint also pointed out that the man also raped the older girl. The incident was reported to the police authorities after the sisters reported what was happening to their mother, who contacted the police station.
According to the prosecutor, Pedro Lucas de Vargas, the younger sister, aged 9, was not the victim of rape due to circumstances beyond the defendant’s control, as the girl managed to escape to another room in every attempt.
All acts were carried out under threat, the convict said he would kill his sisters and other family members if they denied the practice. He also presented pornographic content to his 9-year-old sister in order to naturalize the practice, with the intention of raping her.
“It should be noted that the facts characterize a situation of domestic and family violence against women, due to the condition of the female sex and since the victims are sisters of the accused, who used the domestic and family relationship to commit violence. crime. The consummation of the crimes was confirmed through an expert report and testimonies from people close to them and the victims themselves”, concluded the MP.
