“Our goal is to strengthen tourism in Mato Grosso and this finalist position is a reflection of the actions we are taking to make our tourism grow. We want to attract even more tourists from outside the state, give visibility to Mato Grosso, as well as generate jobs and income through tourism”, said the Deputy Secretary of Tourism, Felipe Wellaton.
PED Turismo is an initiative of the Development Observatory of the State of Mato Grosso, developed by tourismologist Leandro Carvalho Lima at the Deputy Secretariat of Tourism.
“The nomination for the 2023 National Tourism Award is a satisfaction and recognition for the work carried out with PED Turismo MT. We use a tool from Germany, which countries such as Dubai, Croatia, Switzerland, Austria, Abu Dhabi, in addition to the European Hotel and British Hospitality Associations, have been using for some time, however, we created something new in this process, such as the Performance Index Tourist (IDTur). IDTur contributes to measuring the interaction capacity of the places monitored in the Program, an innovation in this process that is being recognized for this”, stated the tourismologist.
PED Turismo competes with the Fortaleza Tourism Observatory, created by the Fortaleza Municipal Tourism Secretariat and with the Tourist Specialist System (SET), from Smart Tour Brasil. The prize winners will be chosen based on the final score, obtained according to the criteria in the notice. The awards ceremony will take place on December 15th, at which time the winner will be announced.
Award
The National Tourism Award was created in 2018, by the Ministry of Tourism, with the aim of identifying, stimulating and disseminating successful practices carried out in Brazilian tourism. The award seeks to recognize those who make Brazilian tourism grow and strengthen itself as one of the economic segments with the greatest potential for generating employment and income in Brazil.
In the 2023 edition, outstanding initiatives will be awarded in 10 categories. As for professionals, 09 categories will be awarded. The winners of each category are given trophies or medals, symbolically, with no commercial or financial value.
PED Tourism
The Digital Evolution in Tourism Program (PED Turismo), from the Development Observatory of the State of Mato Grosso, aims to improve the digital presence of tourist attractions, accommodation facilities, restaurants and similar facilities, equipment and tourist destinations. Places and companies are monitored by TrustYou’s Online Reputation Management Platform based on reviews and opinions recorded by tourists, the aim is to improve the services provided to visitors.
From PED Turismo MT, managers and entrepreneurs receive reports with data that allow strategic analysis, in order to assist decision-making, as well as boost investments for the sector.
To implement the Program, businesspeople and municipal managers are receiving training on how to improve the digital presence of tourism businesses. The Tourist Performance Index (IDTur) can be accessed here.
