Brazil and 15 other countries will formalize this Thursday (9) the creation of Ameripol (Police Community of the Americas), an entity that will operate similar to Interpol, in the Americas region. The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, said today (8) that the objective is to strengthen the debate that covers neighboring countries.
Dino said that the formalization of the entity will be signed in a ceremony at the Ministry of Justice, in Brasília, with the signing of an agreement that involved the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassies.
“This mechanism is important in view of the transnationalization of organized crime. So, consider how money laundering today is essentially transnational, which involves crypto assets.”
The minister said that he spoke yesterday with the president of Interpol, who is a police officer from the United Arab Emirates, and that they spoke about the “intensification of police cooperation on cybercrimes in general, including through crypto assets”. Police Community of the Americas

Minister Flávio Dino and the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, signed, this Wednesday (8), a technical cooperation agreement to create the Financial Intelligence and Asset Recovery Committee (Cifra), focusing on combating money laundering. of money by criminal groups and, thus, financially stifle such organizations, especially the so-called narco-militias.
According to Dino, events that happen in Brazil have repercussions in border countries and part of what happens there has direct repercussions in Rio de Janeiro, for example, and in other states.
“In our view, there is no silver bullet, holy grail, there is no philosopher’s stone, no magic wand on difficult topics such as public security and public policies in general. We do not have this illusion, but we believe that the results that are occurring will increase due to this institutional adjustment”, he highlighted, also valuing the partnership with the government of Rio de Janeiro to combat drug militias.
