Acting governor Professor Mateus was awarded the Order of Legislative Merit, this Wednesday (8/11), during a ceremony held at the Palácio das Artes, in Belo Horizonte. The honor given by the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais (ALMG) honors personalities who have become worthy of recognition from the Minas Gerais Legislature for their services and initiatives of public relevance and promotion of citizenship.
Speaking on behalf of the honorees, Professor Mateus praised the Assembly’s ability to recognize these people’s stories as examples that should be followed.
“The opportunity for tributes is not only to recognize history, but also to allow people to follow the good examples that exist out there. I am happy to have seen so many people honored by the Assembly today, with beautiful stories to be told”, highlighted the acting governor, who was awarded the Great Merit medal for his political career.
This year, 175 personalities and institutions were honored in the areas of innovation, future, inclusion, representation, culture, education and society, among others. The list of recipients is made up of rectors, ministers, secretaries of State, businesspeople, media outlets, mayors, councilors and associations.
Tradition in Innovating
Traditionally, the ceremony for the award of Legislative Merit presents a theme that is related to Minas Gerais, Parliament and the current context. In 2023, the choice was “Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais: tradition in innovating”. The theme aims to show that ALMG has always been in tune with social changes, seeking innovations that favor dialogue and better conditions for the exercise of its constitutional duties.
The Order of Legislative Merit of MG was established by Resolution No. 2778/1982, with the purpose of honoring natural or legal persons, national or foreign, who have become worthy of recognition by the Assembly for their services and initiatives of public relevance and promotion. citizenship or exceptional merits.
It is awarded by the president of ALMG and the members of the Council of the Order, in the degrees: Great Merit, Special Merit and Merit.
The Council of the Order is chaired by the head of the Legislature and has as members the members of the Board, the leaders of the Majority and Minority and the former presidents of the ALMG in office as state deputy. In addition to medals, the recipients receive diplomas signed by the president of ALMG
