247 – Federal judge Danilo Pereira Júnior will likely be the new head of the 13th Court of Curitiba, where the remaining cases of Operation Lava Jato are concentrated. According to the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, the expectation is that the magistrate’s name will be endorsed by the Administrative Court of the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF-4) in the coming days, following the seniority criterion. Currently, Pereira Júnior is the head of the 12th Court.

“He has already replaced members of the TRF-4 in some situations, during a magistrate’s vacation period, for example, and worked on the analysis of resources linked to Lava Jato. He was the one who signed the release of today’s president Lula (PT), in November 2019, in the wake of the decision of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) on arrest only after the final decision of a case (when there is no longer any possibility of appeal) ”, highlights the report.

The current holder of the 13th Court, the retired federal judge Eduardo Appio, is also awaiting approval by the TRF-4 to assume the title of the 18th Court of Curitiba. Appio had been away since May due to a disciplinary process, but made an agreement for his transfer to take place without any punishment.
