Woman is arrested for abandoning her father on public roads and taking out a R$20,000 loan in his name in Manaus | Amazon

A 42-year-old woman was arrested, on Tuesday (7), for abandoning her own 68-year-old father, alone on a street in Manaus. The arrest took place in Bairro Dom Pedro, Central-West Zone of the capital.

According to the Amazonas Civil Police, the woman was also responsible for managing the elderly man’s retirement and, as a result, took out a loan worth R$20,000 without his authorization, and took advantage of everything without providing the necessary support to the victim.

According to delegate Andrea Nascimento, the elderly man was rescued by the team from the Integrated Center for the Defense of the Elderly (Cipid), after receiving a report stating that he had been abandoned on a public street.

“It was not possible to immediately locate the victim’s family members, so we sent him to the Doctor Thomas Elderly Support Foundation (FDT), of Manaus City Hall. But, shortly afterwards, the investigation team arrived at one of the children of the elderly man, a 44-year-old man, who informed that his father would be under the responsibility of his sister”, said the delegate.

According to the delegate, the civil police contacted the woman to ask her to take her father out of the Foundation, however, she did not respond to the call. Therefore, they went to her residence and asked her about what had happened.

“She confirmed that she had abandoned her own father in public and said that she would rather be arrested than take care of him. Furthermore, she stated that she would not remove him from the Foundation and that she would in fact have appropriated the elderly man’s assets while taking care of her own. financial benefits”, he said.

The woman will be responsible for abandonment, appropriation of assets, exposure to danger and lack of assistance to the elderly and will be at the disposal of the Court.
