Governor Fátima Bezerra sanctioned law No. 11,580, which creates the “Tendas Violetas” program, aimed at combating cases of abuse, sexual harassment and harassment at large cultural, festive and leisure events held in Rio Grande do Norte. The information was released through the Official State Gazette (DOE) this Wednesday (8).

Sanctioned on Tuesday (7), the law determines that the program will work through the distribution of informative materials aimed at preventing sexual abuse, sexual harassment and sexual harassment through the dissemination of information about the importance of explicit consent before any interaction sexual violence, as well as assistance to victims of this violence.

Furthermore, the Violet Tents must have a physical and functional structure, provided by the Public Authorities, with the aim of preventing these crimes and also promoting reception for victims of this violence. The program spaces will welcome all people, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age and class.

The law also determines that there will be a qualified responsible person to welcome, guide and accompany the victim, if they wish, to report the attacks to the competent authorities. It will also provide assistance to the victim in locating friends and family.
