From this Wednesday afternoon, the 8th, Santa Catarina will have rain again. The storms return sparsely on Wednesday, but occur mainly throughout Thursday, the 9th. This is due to the passage of a cold front across the sea combined with low pressure systems and also the flow of heat and humidity from the Amazon region, which once again favor the formation of areas of instability that cause rain showers and storms in all regions.
In general, for the period between Wednesday, the 8th, and Sunday, the 12th, isolated thunderstorms are expected between the afternoons and evenings, with the exception of Thursday, the 9th, when this condition lasts throughout the day. , starting with the Grande Oeste and areas bordering Rio Grande do Sul early in the morning.
With the storms, lightning, intense rain, gusts of wind and possible hail are expected. On an occasional basis, rainfall volumes may be high, especially in Vale do Itajaí and Planalto Norte, however, so far there are no indications of widespread and/or comprehensive rain in the state. This should only happen from Monday, the 13th, with the formation and passage of a new cold front that keeps the weather cloudy and with recurring rain.
Associated risks
Even with the forecast of rain and frequent storms, temperatures remain high in the state as well as the feeling of stuffy air, especially in the interior of Santa Catarina. Considering that the soil will remain wet and the rivers will remain at high levels, the risk that is already increased for landslides and floods tends to increase even further at the same time that the risks for events associated with flooding, floods, windstorms and hail return. .
It is important to highlight that weather forecasts may change, as well as the hydrological situation, which must be monitored daily. The bodies continue to constantly monitor meteorological and hydrological conditions in Santa Catarina and we recommend always following the weather forecast and warnings and alerts issued by official sources.
