Next month, the Museum of Image and Sound of Alagoas (Misa) will host the 1st Festival of Storytellers of Alagoas (Fechal). The event, which will take place on November 10th and 11th, promises to bring to the public a universe of narratives through cultural presentations, lectures, workshops and conversation circles.

With the theme “Connecting Hearts – Das Cirandas ao Luar, Alagoas Além do Mar, have Stories to Tell”, the festival seeks to celebrate the ancient tradition of stories shared from generation to generation. Created by Meire Deise, from Aplauso Produções e Eventos, and Rochelli Assis, from Espaço Escola Arte e Cultura, Fechal has the support of the Government of Alagoas, through the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy (Secult).

The event’s program will be diverse, with the presence not only of storytellers from Alagoas, but also from other states. Names such as Luciano Pontes, playwright, writer and specialist in children’s literature, and Ivani Magalhães, master in education, storyteller and writer, stand out. Lectures, workshops, cultural presentations and conversation circles will be offered throughout the two days of the festival.

Registration can be made via the Sympla website, with prices starting at R$65, which guarantees participation in two workshops (morning and afternoon) and the entire event. With a proposal to bring people closer to the universe of narratives, Fechal promises to enchant the public with stories from different places and cultures.

On the first day, the official opening will take place at 5pm, after accreditation with Ritoc’Artes. Soon after, accountant Damiana Melo, from Cia Literando, will give a lecture on musicalization in storytelling. The highlight of the night will be the storytelling “História da Prima Vera, em Alagadiços”, by Rochelli Messias de Assis. The day ends with a “Sung Story Hour”, with Meire Deise.

On the second day, there will be workshops in the morning, with emphasis on the storytelling workshop for babies, taught by Ivani Magalhães, and the storytelling resources workshop, with Rosely Frazão. In the afternoon, the workshops will be about oral narratives and their diversities, with Luciano Pontes, and about time in counting, stopping, breathing and counting again, with Carmen Lúcia Freire. In addition to the workshops, there will be several presentations by storytellers throughout the afternoon.

The 1st Alagoas Storytellers Festival promises to be a unique experience of immersion in the universe of narratives. The organizers hope to connect hearts through the stories told and provide moments of enchantment and reflection for the audience present.
