The National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) called the Federal Police to investigate images of the National High School Examination (Enem) test circulating on social media this Sunday afternoon, 5th. According to Inep, This is not a leak, but rather photographs that were released after the application began, when the students were already inside the rooms.
The school gates were closed at 1 pm (Brasília time) and the test began at 1:30 pm. The end is scheduled for 7pm.
Inep stated that the communication sent to the Federal Police regarding the circulation of photos is a standard procedure. The photo published on the networks shows the page with the essay theme and the motivational texts, which serve as support for students to formulate their intervention proposals. The theme of this year’s essay is “Challenges for tackling the invisibility of care work carried out by women in Brazil”.
Inep has a situation room to monitor exam complications. This Sunday morning, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva visited the site. Upon leaving, he stated that the Enem exam was guaranteed throughout the country and that the problems of schools without electricity in São Paulo had been resolved.
Enem is being administered in 132,000 classrooms in 1,750 municipalities across the country. There are more than 3.9 million students enrolled.
The government’s expectation is to increase participation rates in the exam in the coming years, considered the largest entrance exam in the country for public and private institutions. “I think we’re going to move forward so that people don’t even need to pay the Enem fee. We’re going to have to make a combination so that it becomes more attractive for these young people to sign up to take their Enem and enter a university,” said Lula , who also mentioned that 63% of people enrolled in Enem are women.
This Sunday, candidates take language tests (40 questions in Portuguese and 5 in English or Spanish), human sciences (45 questions) – in addition to writing. The application will last 5 hours and 30 minutes.
On the 12th, participants take assessments in natural sciences (45 questions) and mathematics (45 questions). The application will last 5 hours, counting from the room manager’s authorization for the start of the tests.
The exam is only being carried out in person. In March, the Ministry of Education decided to end the digital format of Enem, created by the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in 2020 amid the pandemic. According to the MEC, few students have opted for computer assessment in recent years, which is expensive.
