Conceived as an emotional adventure, the exhibition “Sala de Mapas”, a solo exhibition by Pablo Sycet that presents works using mixed media on paper, explores his affective memories, rescuing memories of his first visits to some cities in Brazil, two decades ago. Taking the plane as the starting point and support of the plot, the artist ended up expanding his travel experience to other cities that were fundamental (and sentimental) for the painter’s future.

In the exhibition, Pablo uses random fragments of the cartography of São Paulo, Havana, Istanbul, Lisbon, New York, Madrid and Granada. On the occasion of the first exhibition of this exhibition, “Map Room”, a poem of the same name by Juan Manuel Bonet, was published, accompanied by some paintings from this series. The traveling exhibition, which has already been shown at the Instituto Cervantes in São Paulo, has the collaboration of the Olontia Foundation.

“I tried to recover and recreate on paper those sensations experienced during my first forays into those cities. Several years passed before I could project them into this represented pictorial fiction. They are the most intimate traces of another sentimental education”, she explains.
