The four buildings of the former Gama Filho University, in Piedade, in the North Zone of Rio, were imploded at 7am this Sunday (5), for the construction of a park.
Around 700 properties were vacated so that there would be no risk to any resident.

There, the city hall promises to build Parque Piedade, a project similar to Parque Madureira, with leisure areas, urban garden, gym, skate park and football field.
Residents say that a building on Rua Martins Costa also belonged to the university and provided space for dentistry and nursing courses, but that it is not part of the construction project. In addition to the leisure area, they are asking for a public daycare center in the area.
