Rio – On the first day of the Enem 2023 exams, this Sunday (5), a woman reported that she got into traffic and ended up finding the gates closed at the exam location. Andrea Umbelino, 53 years old, arrived seconds after 1 pm, at the Veiga de Almeida University (UVA), in Maracanã, and could not hide her disappointment at having lost the competition.
“I get frustrated, but not so much because I already have my degree. My son encouraged me to come. The important thing was that my son managed to arrive on time and is already in the classroom”, said Andrea, who has a degree in psychology.
She also explained what motivated her to participate in Enem this year. “I wanted to do Literature / Libras. Because I already have a postgraduate degree, right? But, to take part in a competition you need to have a college degree, a degree”, she said. Regarding trying again next year, Andrea revealed that it is still uncertain. “I don’t know. Because I’m already retiring from City Hall, so it would be something else for me to work on later. But that’s okay.”
In addition to Andrea, another woman was also unable to arrive at the test site on time. The two practically saw the inspectors lock the gates in front of them. On the sidewalk, a group of people who supported those taking the entrance exams started chanting for them to open, but to no avail.
This afternoon (5), students will do 90 questions on languages and human sciences, in addition to writing. The second day of tests takes place next Sunday (12).
