Metropolitano is champion of the Santa Catarina Non-Professional Championship. The Nova Veneza team beat Juventus 3-0 in the second leg of the decision. The cup match was played this Sunday (05/11), at the Darci Marini stadium, in Nova Veneza. The goals of the confrontation were scored by Jorge de Araújo and Márcio Souza, still in the first stage. An own goal closed the scoring in the second half.

The title was won by Metropolitano undefeated and with 100% success. In the first leg, the Red and White team had won 4-0, at the Hermógenes de Brito stadium, in Joinville. This is the fourth time that the Nova Veneza team has won the State Championship.

The champion team also had the main individual highlights of the tournament. The least leaked goalkeeper was archer Fernando Passarela. Catarinense’s top scorer was Jorge de Araújo, known as Mauá, who found the net eight times in the competition.

José Carlos Goulart Junior, from the Department of Institutional Relations with Non-Professional Leagues of the Santa Catarina Football Federation (FCF), highlighted the importance of the State Championship. “We deliver another competition on our calendar thanks to all the support that president Rubens Angelotti gives to the Non-Professional Leagues, their affiliated clubs and the entire FCF board. Today we close the state phase of the competition. I remember that to get here we had four qualifying competitions, where 17 leagues and 49 teams were present. In this way, we will continue working so that we can improve the level of our already strong Non-Professional Adult Football”, he concludes.

The president of Metropolitano, Kristian Fragnani Mazzucco, celebrated another great achievement for the club. “This title positions Metropolitano as the biggest champion in activity in the state, second only to Juventude de Lindóia do Oeste. Every championship that Metropolitano enters, it always tries to fight for titles. It is no coincidence that in the last seven years we have had our fourth state title and in the last nine LARMS we have reached the final of eight, winning six. This shows how great the Metropolitano is,” he defines.

Juventus’ treasurer, Luís Alberto de Mira, classified the team’s first participation in the State Championship as very satisfactory. “I want to express my gratitude and satisfaction in participating in this final for Juventus Futebol Clube, representing the city of Joinville and our neighborhood, Iririú. As we are debuting in the state championship and reaching the final is really gratifying. We feel a little bit that, unfortunately, in the first game in Joinville, the score was a little bigger. But regardless of that, what counts is the dispute”, he comments.
