Sapezal (510 km from Cuiabá) is the city with the youngest population in the entire state. With the lowest aging rate, the municipality has a total of 28,944 inhabitants. Of these, 54% are under 30 years of age. The data are from the 2022 Census, released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in October.

According to the Youth Statute, people up to 29 years of age are considered young.

Sapezal’s aging index is 10.31. The lower the index, the younger the population. The city has 15,654 inhabitants aged between 0 and 29 years old. The median age of the Sapezalense population is 28 years old, also one of the youngest in the State.

Young people aged between 25 and 29 are the majority: 3,239 people in this age group in the municipality. Followed by people aged between 20 and 24, which are 2,949.

Both among young people and the general population, the majority of people residing in the municipality of Sapezal are men. Of the more than 28 thousand inhabitants, 15,270 (52%) are men and 13,670 (48%) are women.
