The second block of the Tocantins delegation made a good debut at the 2023 Brazilian School Games (JEBs) and won seven medals this Saturday, the 4th. Considered the biggest school sports event in Brazil, the competition continues until Wednesday, the 8th, in Brasília (DF).

In the wrestling modality, there were six achievements: Maria Clara Caldas, Escola de Tempo Integral (ETI) Caroline Campelo, bronze medal in the gold series 44kg freestyle; Vitor Gabriel Santana, ETI Anísio Spinola Teixeira, bronze medal in the silver series 64kg freestyle; Walteir Guimarães, from Escola Estadual Novo Horizonte, silver in the bronze series 85kg Greek Roman style; Jan Carlos de Oliveira, from Escola Municipal Thiago Barbosa, silver in the bronze series 62 kg Greek Roman; Jefferson Josep Ferreira, from Escola Municipal Jorge Amado, silver in the bronze series 44 kg Greek Roman and Breno Vieira, from ETI Anísio Spinola Texeira, bronze in the bronze series 52 kg freestyle. All school units are from Palmas.

Maria Clara de Oliveira Caldas participates in the competition for the second time. “In last year’s edition I won a silver medal in the silver series. And this year I already won bronze in the gold series. This shows that I’m on the right path, I’m evolving in this sport that I love to play and I want to continue making my family and my family proud.” my State”.

Professor Dyogo Teles, who accompanied the student-athletes in Wrestling, was proud of the results. “Wrestling is a new sport in Tocantins, but it is already producing great achievements. We were already medalists in the 2022 edition of the JEBs, this year we already won at the Youth Games in Ribeiro Preto and now we are closing 2023 with a flourish with these six medals”

Bronze in Cycling

Another sport in which Tocantins won a medal this Saturday was in cycling, with student Sophia Pires Fiuza, from Escola Estadual Rezende de Almeida, in Itapiratins, who won bronze in the bronze series in the women’s speed race.

Night of the States

On the night of the states, an event promoted with the aim of sharing the culture of each region of Brazil, the delegation from Tocantins showed the culture of the original peoples through handicrafts, typical food, such as sun-dried meat farofa and cassava flour , in addition to the charms of Jalapão and Serras Gerais.

Second day of competitions

This Sunday, the 5th, student-athletes from Tocantins continue competing in Badminton, Swimming, Handball, Cycling and Handball. The JEBs started on October 26th and are promoted by the Brazilian Confederation of School Sports (CBDE).

To participate in the competition, student-athletes from Tocantins were classified in the Tocantins School Games (JETs), held by the State Government, through the State Department of Education (Seduc).
