A 29-year-old man was arrested after being caught with 38 marijuana tablets hidden in a suitcase. The suspect was traveling on a tourist bus and the incident occurred on Saturday night (4), on BR-116, in the city of Vitória da Conquista, in the southwest of Bahia.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), responsible for seizing the drug and arresting the man, the tablets totaled 25.9 kg of marijuana.
The drug was found after a PRF team approached the tourist bus that left São Paulo (SP) bound for Aracaju, the capital of Sergipe.
During the inspection, the team decided to inspect the bus and, when opening the cargo compartment, the police smelled a strong smell of drugs. They found the marijuana tablets that were hidden in a blue suitcase.
The police also checked the luggage tickets and found that the receipt found belonged to one of the passengers.
When questioned, the passenger informed the police that he was at the Tietê bus station and received an offer to travel to Aracaju.
In view of the facts, an arrest warrant was issued and the man was taken to the Vitória da Conquista police station. Initially, she will be charged with the crime of drug trafficking.
