The theme of the Enem 2023 essay is “Challenges for tackling the invisibility of care work carried out by women in Brazil”. The information was released by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep) this Sunday afternoon (5), the first day of the tests.
In Paraíba, 124,519 registrations were registered. The tests are being applied in 55 municipalities in Paraíba. In the state, there are 374 test locations and 4,363 application rooms.
Women make up the majority of those enrolled in Paraíba. There were 73,530 registrations, while 50,989 men registered.
In João Pessoa, 50,721 candidates registered. In Campina Grande, there were 19,362 registered.
Across Brazil, almost 4 million candidates signed up for the exam. Compared to last year, there was a 13.1% increase in the number of registrations, with 3,476,226 registered in 2022.
In total, there are 9,399 test locations and 132,456 application rooms, in 1,750 municipalities across the country.
Enem assesses students’ academic performance at the end of basic education. Furthermore, it has become the main gateway to higher education in Brazil, through the Unified Selection System (Sisu), the University for All Program (Prouni) and the Student Financing Fund (Fies).
