
A 45-year-old man was arrested after trying to stab his brother and 16-year-old nephew for not delivering a project on time. The case happened in Paraty, in the Várzea do Corumbé neighborhood, on Rio’s Costa Verde, on Saturday night. According to the police, Marcelo Martins Neto was angry with his brother, the bricklayer and construction contractor, Moisés Martins, aged 40, for not meeting the delivery date for the renovation of the family home. At the time, Marcelo argued with his brother and stabbed him and his nephew three times, who managed to get out and ask for help.

Marcelo fled the scene of the crime, but was captured by Civil Police agents after monitoring. He was walking along a public road, with the knife used in the crime, when he was captured, taken to the Paraty police station and charged with two attempted murders for futile reasons. He was trying to escape the city.
The bricklayer was taken to a municipal hospital in the region where he is admitted in serious condition. His son, João Lucas Souza, aged 16, had to be transferred to a hospital in Angra dos Reis, also on Costa Verde, where he will undergo surgery.
— We arrested a 45-year-old man who attempted to kill his brother and nephew. He had hired his brother’s service in his home. After an argument, he (the accused) claimed delay in delivering the service and stabbed his brother and nephew. We had information that he was going to take a bus to escape. We acted with precision and carried out the arrest – said the delegate in the case, Marcelo Russo.
