Man dies after trying to cross flooded street and being carried away by current in North Santa Catarina

Incident occurred on Friday and he was found on Saturday

A 54-year-old man died after trying to cross a flooded street and being carried away by the current, in the Rio do Peixe neighborhood, in Barra Velha, on the North Coast. He disappeared on Friday afternoon and was found this Saturday, the 4th.

According to the Fire Department, the body was found around 8 am and was approximately 1 km from the place where the victim disappeared. The streets were flooded due to the stream that overflowed.

Some people who were at the scene reported that the victim was alerted, however, he crossed over, unable to withstand the current and being swept away. The searches began on Saturday morning on Rua João Pedro Reis, in the Rio do Peixe neighborhood, on the banks of the river.
