On the All Souls’ Day holiday, this Thursday (2), the Hemoba headquarters, on Avenida Vasco da Gama, in Salvador, will assist volunteers with blood donation and bone marrow registration from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. On the day, the mobile collection unit (Hemóvel) will be at Shopping da Bahia, receiving donors from 8am to 5pm.
The Foundation’s other units in the capital and in the interior will be closed on the holiday. On Friday, all units in Salvador will operate at their usual time and, in the interior of the state, the units in Alagoinhas, Brumado and Itapetinga will be closed.
On Friday (3), Hemóveis, located in Salvador Shopping and Shopping da Bahia, will be open from 8am to 5pm. The Shopping da Bahia unit will also be open on Saturday (4), at the same time.
Hemoba has a blood supply below the desirable level for types O+, A- and B+. Therefore, it requires greater mobilization of donors to meet requests from hospital units. Critical stock is considered when there is not enough quantity to meet demand for at least three days.
Blood and platelet transfusion is used in various situations, such as in the treatment of serious injuries, cancer or other diseases and in different types of surgeries.
