The Municipality of Itajaí recorded the highest generation of jobs in Santa Catarina, in March of this year, among the large cities in the state. The positive balance of 1,293 registered vacancies placed the municipality ahead of Joinville (880 vacancies), Chapecó (771) and Criciúma (619), second, third and fourth in the ranking. The data were disclosed by the General Employment Register (Caged) of the Ministry of Labor.
“Having the highest generation of jobs in the state in March shows the government’s commitment to stimulating business and investment in the city. The services sector led the rise, with 2,165 vacancies opened between January and March, which represents almost 60% of the total vacancies generated”, highlights the municipal secretary of Economic Development, Thiago Morastoni.
In addition to the highlight in March, with more than twice the number of vacancies generated in the same month of 2022, the accumulated balance for the first quarter of the year is the second largest in SC among cities with more than 200,000 inhabitants. In all, Itajaí generated 3,724 new jobs from January to March 2023. Compared to the same period last year, the number still represents an increase of 13.81%.
