In addition to the 2nd runway, Navegante Airport (SC) should receive modernization works in June

After the announcement of a second runway at Navegantes Airport, in Santa Catarina, this Thursday (25), the governor of the state, Jorginho Mello, said that the terminal in Santa Catarina will start work from June.

The modernization project, which will be carried out by CCR Aeroportos, includes the construction of a new passenger terminal, new aircraft yardsamong others structural interventions. The achievement is important to meet the growing demand for passengers and cargo. “It will affect the economy of Navegantes and the entire region”, said Governor Jorginho Mello about the confirmation he received from the concessionaire.

The State Government has been holding meetings with CCR Aeroportos, including a large meeting at Agronómica earlier this month, to learn all the details of the project. On this Thursday, the concessionaire that manages Navegantes Airport also confirmed that the original route will be maintained for a second runway, in line with the Master Plan of the Municipality of Navegantes.

The second runway, an important work for the development of the region, is once again part of the investment plans and has the support of the state government for the next necessary steps that will guarantee the start of this work for the region.

“Of course, this requires a contractual rebalancing between CCR and the Federal Government, but the most important thing is that the original design will be maintained, the one that was approved by the entire society of Navegantes, in a struggle of many years.”, celebrates the secretary of Ports, Airports and Railways, Beto Martins, who added: “This proves that Governor Jorginho Mello was very right when he created a secretariat especially to give prominence to his most important logistical modes, in this case the air transport”.

The CEO of CCR Aeroportos, Fábio Russo, also commented on the importance of improvements at Navegantes airport, one of the 20 managed by the company in the world. “Our goal goes beyond offering a modern and functional airport. We are committed to contributing to the economic and social development of Santa Catarina. Through this project, we seek to strengthen air connectivity in the region, boost tourism and trade, as well as foster the creation of jobs and opportunities for the local population.”, comments.
