247 – The mainstream media in the United States launched new attacks against the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes, one of the leaders of the judiciary’s emphatic reaction to Bolsonarist terrorism.

Last weekend, the New York Times asked: “Their aggressive tactics are generating debate: Can anyone go too far to fight the far right?”

The author of the article, Jack Nicas, said that Moraes uses “a broad interpretation of the court’s powers” to “investigate and prosecute, as well as silence on social media, anyone he considers a threat to Brazilian institutions.”

For its part, the Wall Street Journal, in an article signed by Mary Anastasia O’Grady, seen by critics as a spokeswoman for reactionaryism, spoke last week of “a strong authoritarian trait” of the minister of the Court.

“Judge Moraes has become the face of a crackdown on freedom of expression not seen since the country returned to democracy under the 1988 constitution,” writes the editor in the newspaper of the Murdoch empire.
