The UBS (Basic Health Unit) Cuiabazinho, located in Jardim Maringá, was the target of vandals several times during the month of September. The health post had 4 windows broken by stones.
Lidiane Azambuja, coordinator of the unit, regrets what happened and worries about the situation. “Last month it happened once, and this month it happened four times. They’re throwing gravel at the same window, where the Medication Room is and it always happens between the team’s departure and the guards’ arrival. We don’t know if the intention is to steal or just spoil the property, but it is unfortunate that people destroy something that is of use to them”, said Lidiane.
The Civil Police arrived at the scene and a police report was registered. According to Law No. 2,848/40 of the Brazilian Penal Code, vandalism is a crime and the perpetrator is subject to imprisonment and a fine for damage to public property. The penalty varies from six months to three years of detention, in addition to aggravating factors.
The population can collaborate by reporting to the Municipal Guard by phones 153 and 199, the phones are open 24 hours and a vehicle will be sent to check the complaint.
