The complaint has 403 pages and was sent to the federal judge of the 2nd Court of the Judiciary Section of Rio Grande do Norte. According to the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), the criminal organization was led by João Paulo Ribeiro, known as “Bokinha” or “BK”. The scheme took advantage of containers with various types of products and included drugs in the midst of legal cargo.
The MPF’s conclusion was that the organization was operating in three nuclei. The first operated in Grande Natal, based in São José de Mipibu; the second was based in Areia Branca and the third was made up of people linked to a company responsible for the logistics necessary for the drugs to be shipped to Europe.
The complaint is authored by the Attorney of the Republic, Fernando Rocha. Those involved were charged with the crimes of international drug trafficking; constitution and participation in a criminal organization focused on international drug trafficking; and money laundering.

The investigations began in July 2021. Half a ton of cocaine was seized in a container with a cargo of lemon, in the Port of Natal. The truck deviated from the route, passing through São José de Mipibu, and the temperature record of the container showed signs of having been opened even after being sealed.
Driver Jefferson dos Santos had been a defendant in a 2018 lawsuit that accused him of being responsible for delivering a similar cargo in Santos, bound for the port of Antwerp, Belgium, in the midst of which 760 kg of the drug were seized.
The Federal Police obtained the breach of telephone and data confidentiality on part of those involved and mounted a wide investigation, collecting images, messages, recordings, bank information, among other clues. The MPF concluded that the criminals were already operating in several states and, in 2021, they settled in Rio Grande do Norte, where João Paulo Ribeiro came.
In São José de Mipibu, in addition to the operational base, there was the fruit transport company Transderi, whose owner, Derinaldo dos Santos, used both for the “contamination” of containers and to recruit drivers interested in the scheme.
One of its employees, José Heriberto de Oliveira, was responsible for delivering a container of mangoes to the Port of Natal, on March 25, 2021, in which 398 kg of cocaine were found, after arriving in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Another driver, José Alves Neto, delivered a container to the Port of Mucuripe/CE, also destined for Rotterdam, in May 2021. Scanned during transshipment at the port of Le Havre, France, in May 2021, 640 kg of cocaine, inserted between mango boxes. Another apprehension took place that same month, already in Rotterdam, and included 550 kg of cocaine, in a container sent from Natal with a load of pumpkin.
