Lula extends advantage in MG and follows leader in SP; Bolsonaro draws in RJ, shows Datafolha

SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) – The race for the presidency in the three largest schools in Brazil, São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, continues with movements according to the new Datafolha survey, released this Thursday (22), as had already occurred in last week’s survey.

The three states are the center of the most populous region in the country, the Southeast, with 43% of the electorate.

In this poll, carried out from Tuesday (20) to this Thursday (22), PT Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva recovered in Minas and numerically increased his advantage over President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The PT maintained the lead in São Paulo, but saw the rival reach a draw in Rio.

Last week, the incumbent had reduced the distance to Lula by seven percentage points in Minas, where governor Romeu Zema (Novo), who was once very close to the president, leads the campaign, according to Datafolha, with 48%, compared to 28. % of the lulist Alexandre Kalil (PSD).

Now, the PT presidential candidate has oscillated again and leads with 46%, compared to Bolsonaro’s stable 33% in the state. Ciro Gomes (PDT) and Simone Tebet (MDB) remained where they were.

Already in the largest basket of votes in the country, São Paulo, Lula continues with points ahead of his rival in the first round. It fluctuated from 43% to 41%, while the president went from 33% to 34%.

Bolsonaro saw his sponsor in the state contest, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), isolate himself in second place, while his main rival to try to reach the second round with Fernando Haddad (PT), governor Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB), parked. The former São Paulo mayor fluctuated from 36% to 34%.

In Rio, where the explicitly Bolsonarista Cláudio Castro (PL) is ten percentage points ahead of Lula’s Marcelo Freixo (PSB), the PT saw its rate drop from 44% to 40%, while the president fluctuated from 36% to 38%. . They are now technically even.

Datafolha polled 2,000 voters in São Paulo, with a margin of error of two percentage points. In Rio, 1,526 were interviewed, and in Minas, 1,512 were heard. In these states, the margin is three points, plus or minus. The research is registered under the number BR-04180/2022 with the TSE. The confidence index is 95%.
