Lula returns to Minas Gerais to visit Ipatinga

the former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (EN) will return to Minas Gerais, this Friday (23), to visit Ipatinga, in Vale do Aço. The visit will be Lula’s third to Minas during the campaign, since, since August 16, the candidate for the presidency of the Republic had already passed through Belo Horizonte and Montes Claros, in the North of Minas. The passage must be the last of the former president through the state until the 1st round.

In addition to the government candidate Alexandre Kalil (PSD) and the vice candidate André Quintão (PT), the agenda will have the senator and candidate for reelection Alexandre Silveira (PSD). Vale do Aço and, especially, Ipatinga are an electoral stronghold of Silveira, who is behind state deputy Cleitinho Azevedo (PSC) in the Senate raceaccording to the latest round of research DATETIME.

While Cleitinho, supported by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), has 19.3% of voting intentions, Silveira has 8.6%. The expectation is to invest in the undecided, as 32.5% of respondents did not know who they would vote for or did not respond to the survey. There are still 20.9% of interviews that stated that they would not vote for anyone, white and null.

The act is scheduled to start at 6 pm and is scheduled for Ipanema Park, next to Ipatingão Stadium. Although the act will take place in Vale do Aço, it is expected to attract voters from Rio Doce and Mucuri, regions where Lula did not go. During the pre-campaign, for example, the presidential candidate passed through Contagem, in the Metropolitan Region, Juiz de Fora, in the Zona da Mata, and Uberlândia, in the Triângulo.
