Customers of a bar in Boa Viagem, in the South Zone of Recife, got scared and caused a riot, when they saw people running in the middle of the sidewalk and thought that a trawler was happening. (see video above). “Then they said it was crossfit,” said doctor Amyr Kelner, one of the people at the scene.
The case, which took place on Saturday (17), went viral on Twitter this Thursday (22), being among the most commented topics on this social network. The images were recorded by a security camera at Cervejaria Alphaiate, a bar where the customers were.

In the video, it is possible to see, first, a woman running and looking back, in the middle of the sidewalk. There are several tables and umbrellas at the place, which is full of customers.
Then two men run by, one of them with a dog. That’s where customers start to freak out. The first to get up from her chair is a woman who starts walking quickly.

Soon after, a man gets up and runs to the middle of the sidewalk, putting his cell phone in his pocket. This is plastic surgeon Amyr Kelner. He looks back and starts to run, dragging dozens of people, who are scared and also decide to flee the place.
In the riot, tables and chairs are overturned. A man who is closest to the track is even knocked out of his chair during the race. According to Amyr Kelner, there was no apparent problem, what scared the customers was the people running.
“It was really fast. People were coming slowly, then, when they got close to our table, they started running. I told my friend to call and hold her bag. She got up and, at that moment, someone shouted that it was a dragnet . That’s when I got up, shouted that I was also a dragnet and ran away”, said the doctor.
Amyr Kelner said desperation was widespread not only in the bar he was at, but in nearby establishments as well. “People bent down in the other bars and started running. We entered the Alphaiate, bent down and, after a few minutes, we saw that nothing was happening. Everyone started laughing and went back to the tables as if nothing had happened”, stated.
At the table where Amyr was sitting, there were six more people. All ran. Some left bags and cell phones on the table, but nothing was taken.
“When I got up, I put my cell phone and wallet in my pocket. There were people who thought I was pulling out a gun. It’s something to live in a city as insecure as ours. Thank God, I’ve never been robbed, nor have I experienced anything like like, but you’re in an extremely dangerous city and you see three people running towards you,” he said.
O g1 contacted the bar, which said it did not know, until today, what the riot was about, and with the Military Police, which did not respond until the last update of this report.
