Running not only transformed physical health, but also strengthened family bonds and created precious memories for Sirlei and her daughters

The passion for running can arise from different motivations, and for Sirlei Claudino de Oliveira Domingos, aged 42, it began as a search for better health. In 2018, facing high cholesterol levels, Sirlei decided that he needed to change his lifestyle and found a surprising ally in running.

“It was an attempt at first, but little by little I discovered that running not only helped me control my cholesterol, but also gave me a feeling of well-being and fulfillment that I had never experienced before,” he says.

Over time, running was not limited to just being a physical activity that improved health, but became a passion. And Sirlei wanted to share this passion with her daughters, Jaqueline and Janaina, aged 26 and 28, respectively.
Janaina started running with her mother in 2020, on medical advice due to stomach pain and anxiety. Jaqueline, on the other hand, started the sport two years later, in 2022, out of physical necessity due to her work. And that’s how running became not just a physical activity, but a way to strengthen the bonds between mother and daughters.

The three running together provides moments of quality and mutual support. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to spend more time together, share experiences and support each other in our health and fitness goals,” says Sirlei.

Furthermore, the race taught them lessons such as overcoming and perseverance. The family participated in the 6th Sorocaba International Marathon Blue November, where Janaína and Jaqueline achieved the podium in their categories, a rewarding experience for Sirlei as a mother, who started this journey.

“Running has become a link that unites us, providing valuable moments of coexistence and connection”, says the mother. More than a physical activity, running has become a lifestyle that inspires mothers and daughters to prioritize their health, seek personal growth and value shared moments.
