Blue November is world month to combat prostate cancer. And of course, animals could not be left out, as the disease also affects dogs and cats. With this in mind, the Animal Welfare Department of São José do Rio Preto promotes the 1st Blue Pet November, with clinical evaluation focusing on male animals. It will be this Saturday, November 11th, from 1pm, at the Pet Park.
In addition to the evaluation, carried out by veterinarians from Unirp, a partner institution at the event, there will be an adoption campaign, with animals capable of giving and receiving a lot of love. “We will carry out physical examinations and provide guidance to owners regarding prostate cancer in animals and the importance of the pet undergoing annual periodic examinations. It’s an opportunity for us to also talk about castration”, says veterinarian Arthur Rodrigues Silva, from the Animal Welfare Secretariat.
In addition to malignant neoplasms, dogs and cats are affected by benign tumors, which can be detected during periodic examinations. Even though the priority of the 1st Blue Pet November is males, exceptionally females can also be evaluated in general.
To adopt, you must have a personal document with a photo and updated proof of residence in São José do Rio Preto. “It will be the last adoption campaign this year and we want it to be special. We have several little animals that need to find responsible and loving guardians. In addition to the puppies, we have those who were rescued, victims of abuse, run over, abandoned, waiting for a home”, says secretary Cláudia De Giuli. All animals available for adoption are healthy.
