The anesthesiologist Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, arrested on Monday morning (11) after being filmed raping a pregnant woman in labor, in São João de Meriti (RJ), used social media to show the routine in the night shifts he gave in different hospitals. —including images of sedated patients with exposed body parts, such as arms and legs, and newborn infants shortly after delivery.
In a photo published eight months ago, he wrote, in the caption: “You will still hear about me. Wait!”.
In this photo and in several others — the profile created has only 29 publications, the oldest dated from November — there are recent comments with cursing and attacks referring to the news that report what happened in São João de Meriti.
Photos show work routine and diplomas
On social media, Giovanni was limited to showing the day to day in hospitals, sharing almost nothing of his personal life.
In several images published in the feed or in the featured stories, he appears being photographed by colleagues while working, in operating rooms, administering injections and manipulating equipment; in part of them, it is possible to see parts of the body of patients already anesthetized.
In others, he filmed babies – the report counted four newborn children who had their faces disclosed, in addition to a fifth, which is shown but does not have the face highlighted.

According to Resolution CFM 1974/11 of the Federal Council of Medicine, “the physician, (…) in the use of social networks, is prohibited from exposing the patient as a way of disseminating technique, method or treatment result”.
In a publication made in February, the doctor shows his diploma as an anesthesiologist, issued on January 30 this year by the Brazilian Society of Anesthesiology. The document says that Giovanni was approved in the course “Advanced Life Support in Anesthesia”, held in Rio de Janeiro, lasting 16 hours.

Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, 32, was arrested in the act this morning for the crime of rape of a vulnerable person.
A video recorded with a cell phone hidden in the operating room of the Hospital da Mulher, in Vilar dos Teles, in São João de Meriti (RJ), shows the professional putting the penis in the patient’s mouth, who is doped for the birth of the baby.
The video was recorded and delivered to the police by nurses at the unit, who were suspicious of the amount of sedative used by the anesthesiologist on other occasions and his movement close to the patient, according to the Civil Police.
In the recorded images, the woman appears lying down and unconscious during childbirth. On the right side of the sheet, always used in cesarean sections, the doctor appears putting the penis out and introducing the organ into the woman’s mouth. The act lasts ten minutes. On the other side of the sheet, less than a meter away, is the medical team working on the baby’s birth.
The report had access to the images, but chose not to publish them to preserve the victim.
The child’s father was informed about the crime and, until the police left the health unit, the victim had not yet become aware of the rape.
Before being caught, the anesthesiologist had already participated in two other surgeries and presented suspicious behavior.

The crime of rape of a vulnerable person has a penalty of 8 to 15 years in prison.
