It was also very beautiful because it shows this strength in the American industry of acceptance of Latino culture without being the stereotype of Latinos that existed for many years. In fact, I was very happy and I am very grateful to “Queen of the South”, but they are characters that in the cinema were seen as “always a drug dealer, always a criminal”. And I feel that now, after many years of fighting for representation, here in the United States, these possibilities exist. So much so that Wagner (Moura) is making “Civil War”. It’s much more about human stories, regardless of their nation. Alice Braga

The process of choosing Alice was a mix between the will of Blake Crouch, the series’ co-writer Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry, who is also his wife and his editor, and the team (such as executive producer Matt Tolmach) and the good test that she accomplished.

“Every time we talked about who was going to play Amanda, I said, ‘We’re going to call Alice, right?’. When we met her in person, we saw her energy and how much she cared about the role. It was definitely one of the best casting choices we made. Alice gave the project a whole new life and took the character in a different direction,” says Jacquelyn.

The fact that they chose me as an actress, what I brought to the character, because of that she became Brazilian. But that’s irrelevant to the story. It features, of course, a Brazilian actress, but the fact that she is Brazilian is not highlighted because it doesn’t matter. Deep down, it’s about which human being that is. Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry

In “Dark Matter”, Alice plays a psychiatrist who accompanies Jason for most of his journey. Based on the sci-fi bestseller of the same name by Blake Crouch, also creator of the series and showrunner, “Dark Matter” unites science fiction and its many possibilities with a family drama and questions that everyone has already encountered: how The choices we make in life have led or would have led us to live different realities and futures.

Amanda is an adventure companion and a kind of mentor to Jason, a physicist and professor who lives well with his family in Chicago until one day, returning home, he is kidnapped and sent to an alternative version of his own life. There he finds another reality and Amanda, with whom he has a relationship that is not immediately clear, and who helps him not only to understand what happened, but also to return to his family.
